Kohli posts on Twitter about Bishen Singh Bedi after the latter’s demise

India’s legendary spinner and former skipper, Bishen Singh Bedi bid adieu to the world at the age of 77.

He was battling a prolonged illness and was even operated on two weeks before on his knee because of an infection.

Meanwhile, modern-day cricket legend, Virat Kohli took to Twitter to post his heartfelt thoughts on Bedi’s demise.

Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Bishan Singh Bedi ji. My condolences to the family.

Bedi was a prolific spinner during his heydays and baffled many batsmen

Bishen Singh Bedi, known for his brilliant spin bowling had the knack of controlling his flight, loop, and spin.

He also used many variations during his bowling and also made slight adjustments that surprised many batters.

Meanwhile, he played 67 Tests and 10 ODIs for India. His Test career has been quite an impressive one.

From 1967 to 1979, Bedi scalped 266 wickets with an average of 28.71 and also scored 656 runs in the process.

In his 10 ODIs, he claimed 7 wickets and was an exceptional bowler for India.

Moreover, he also formed a quartet along with the likes of Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, and Srinivas Venkatraghavan.

They were a formidable force to reckon with and dominated world bowling from 1966 to 1978.

Bedi’s frankness and vast wisdom kept him in high regard among the cricketing fraternity

Not just his playing brilliance, Bedi was known for giving frank opinions on different aspects of cricket.

During and post his playing days, he gave his opinions on anything that he found fault with.

Bedi’s vast wisdom, profound knowledge, and passion for the sport have truly earned him massive respect in the cricketing fraternity.

Meanwhile, he was the recipient of several honors during his lifetime such as the Arjuna Award in 1969, Padma Shri in 1970, and finally the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.

Furthermore, in 1990, Bedi held a managerial position in the Indian cricket team as well.
