Shreyas Iyer gets Best Fielder medal through Spider Cam

India middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer received the best fielder medal yesterday in the game against New Zealand at Dharamsala.

Recently, the Indian cricket team started a new ceremony in the dressing room in the ODI World Cup 2023.

They analyze the performance of the players based on their fielding efforts throughout the game and then award the Best Fielder medal.

Yesterday was no different as India registered its fifth win over the Blackcaps and once again, T Dilip, India’s fielding coach discussed the game afterwards.

He talked about the fielding performances of three players who were Mohammed Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, and Virat Kohli.

However, the staff went one step ahead to announce the winner of the medal and took everyone out to the field once again.

There to their surprise, the spider cam brought forward the name of the fielder who did exceptionally well in the field.

It was none other than Shreyas Iyer and he was duly awarded for his performances in the field.

India did make some fumbles but managed to win the game; Shreyas Iyer sharp on the field

Despite dropping a few catches and a bit of poor fielding, India became the dominant team in yesterday’s game at Dharamsala.

They managed to bundle out New Zealand for 273 runs and got the target of 274 to chase down.

However, India did drop 3 catches and they were quite easy and regulation catches that they usually take in any game.

In the second innings, India was pretty tense as they hadn’t won against the Blackcaps for a long time.

It was up to the batters to break the Kiwi jinx and they did break it in the end with a few balls to spare.

Meanwhile, the chase master, Virat Kohli once again looked in good touch as he scored 95 runs but couldn’t break Sachin’s record of 49 tons.

India to face England in their next assignment of the ODI World Cup

After securing their fifth win of the tournament, India will now lock horns with England in Lucknow on the 29th of October.

Meanwhile, the defending champions look down at the moment as they are sitting in 10th position in the points table.

On the other hand, India is sitting in 1st position in the points table and will look to get their 6th win of the tournament and strengthen their semifinal chances.
