IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals has secured the services of former New Zealand pacer, Shane Bond for the next season.
Bond, who has been an inseparable part of Mumbai Indians’ squad, has replaced RR’s Lasith Malinga.
Furthermore, Malinga has rejoined his former franchise, Mumbai Indians for the next season of the IPL.
Meanwhile, Bond joined Mumbai Indians back in 2015 and was a part of their successful IPL campaign from 2015 to 2020.
Says Bond upon his joining Rajasthan Royals,
I’m delighted to join the Royals. It’s a forward-thinking franchise that is determined to do well and I’m excited about being part of their vision. The bowling group is a great mix of youth and experience, and it will be awesome to work alongside them.
Bond’s stint with MI Emirates also comes to an end after his exit from Mumbai Indians
After bidding goodbye to Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Bond has also ended his stint as the head coach of MI Emirates, a franchise in the ILT20.
Under his guidance, the team reached Qualifier 2 but lost to Gulf Giants in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Bond has been a part of many franchise teams over the years.
Moreover, he has also been a part of his national team’s coaching staff, first becoming their bowling coach.
After that, he was also involved in various stages by being in their backroom staff over the years.
Bond is always appointed as a bowling consultant because of the wealth of experience he brings with him.
Says RR’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara,
Shane is one of the greatest fast bowlers of modern day cricket, and brings with himself a wealth of experience and knowledge having mentored some of the best in the business. He has served in the IPL and in India for a number of years and is well versed with the processes involved within the franchise ecosystem. He is someone who has a keen eye for helping the best become better and we are delighted to welcome him to the franchise, and look forward to seeing the impact he can make towards moulding us into a title-winning team.
