Former India spinner, Sridharan Sriram is once again Bangladesh’s technical consultant, this time for the ODI World Cup.

Due to this move, the board is planning to change the fortunes of Bangladesh and also use Sriram’s expertise.

Team Director of Bangladesh squad for the ODI World Cup, Khaled Mahmud, has confirmed the appointment of Sriram by saying,

Yes, we have appointed him (Sriram) as a technical consultant for the forthcoming World Cup.

Moreover, Bangladesh Cricket Board is also looking to fine-tune its coaching staff for the marquee event.

However, this is not the first time that Sridharan Sriram has worked with Bangladesh. He was previously appointed as a technical consultant for the T20 World Cup last year.

But, the board also decided on the system of split coaching and the responsibilities of Tests and ODIs went to Russell Domingo.

Unfortunately, Domingo resigned from his post quite quickly and BCB had to look elsewhere.

Afterward, they appointed Chandika Hathurusingha in place of Domingo and made him head coach across all three formats.

This also ended Sriram’s first stint with Bangladesh as a technical consultant but now his reappointment has shown that BCB still has faith in the former’s abilities.

Shakib Al Hasan played a huge part in Sriram’s reappointment

Meanwhile, according to reports, it is being stated that Sriram’s reappointment is the result of Shakib Al Hasan who is a great supporter and admirer of the latter.

Last year, during the T20 World Cup, Shakib constantly backed Sriram and this played a huge part in the success of Najmul Hossain.

With the great support of Sriram, Najmul became the highest scorer for Bangladesh in the tournament.

Therefore, with the return of Sriram, everyone will be looking at what Bangladesh does differently during the ODI World Cup.
