India pacer, Mohammed Shami and his brother have finally been granted bail on their five-year-old domestic violence case.

This has cleared the pacer’s way to participate in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which is his third one.

Notably, Shami is an excellent pacer who can make the ball move and his bowling has received a lot of praise from cricket experts.

However, off the field, Shami’s life is not as rosy and he is constantly battling domestic battles against his estranged wife.

On March 8th, 2018, Haseen Jahan filed an FIR against Shami, his brother, and other in-laws and stated that she was tortured by the family and they even behaved cruelly with her.

Yesterday, Shami and his brother appeared in court to plead for bail in this case. After listening to the plea, the court decided to bail both Shami and his brother from the five-year-old case.

Said Shami’s lawyer after the hearing,

Police have filed a charge sheet against Mohammed Shami and his brother. The law states that once the charge sheet is submitted, the accused will have to appear before the court and seek bail in self defense. Accordingly we appeared before the court today and moved a bail prayer. The court has granted bail to both the siblings. Shami will henceforth participate in the upcoming legal proceedings in this case as required in law.

Shami got to play only two games in the Asia Cup

Talking about Shami’s Asia Cup outings, he got only two games to play in the entire tournament.

These two games were against Nepal and Bangladesh wherein India lost only to the latter.

Meanwhile, India lifted its 8th title of the continental tournament last week after defeating Sri Lanka at Colombo.

Moreover, Shami is the fastest-ever pacer to get to 100 and 150 ODI wickets for India.

However, he wasn’t considered worthy for selection in the playing XI which raised many questions on the team management.

India also decided to rotate between Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel based on the pitch and weather conditions.

Now, Shami can expect to get a bigger role in the upcoming Australia series.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether he gets all three games or not.
