India’s sensation at the moment, Kuldeep Yadav is going to be rested for the first two ODIs against Australia.

The wrist spinner has been quite outstanding in the recently-concluded Asia Cup where he claimed a total of nine wickets.

Firstly, he claimed a five-wicket haul against Pakistan and then followed it up with four wickets against Sri Lanka to defend 213.

Overall, Kuldeep has an average of 11.44 and an economy rate of 3.61 in the five games that he has played in the continental tournament.

Meanwhile, India skipper, Rohit Sharma has also talked about keeping Kuldeep away from Australia for the first two ODIs.

We have been looking at Kuldeep for the last one, one and a half years, this is why we don’t want to expose him a lot. He is coming back for the last match. There are a lot of reasons. This is the best decision for us, to have him sit out for two games and play the third. We also have two practice matches (before the World Cup opener), so for the bowling rhythm, he will be back in it.

Agarkar excited for Kuldeep to spin his magic in the ODI World Cup

On the other hand, the chief selector of the BCCI, Ajit Agarkar has called Kuldeep an invaluable asset for India in the multi-nation tournament.

He worked closely with Kuldeep when he was the coach of Delhi Capitals during the IPL.

Says Agarkar,

Every player needs to be shown faith, given a bit of confidence, which the team management has done and it is showing on the field. In various conditions and against varied opposition, he is one of the trump cards for the team. I’m happy and excited about what he is doing. Clearly, most teams coming up against him find it a challenge, and where he is at, all of us are excited at what lies ahead.
