SANJAY MANJREKAR PRAISES ROHIT SHARMA

The captain of India. Rohit Sharma produced a captain’s knock to help India thrash defending champions England. India defeated England by 100 runs on Sunday. Following Rohit Sharma’s knock, former cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar had nothing but admiration for the skipper. Although Rohit Sharma missed out on smashing his 32nd century, he scored his 54th ODI half-century. His half-century was enough to guarantee India’s easy victory over England.

Against Jos Buttler and company, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent 87 off 101 balls. Moreover, his score includes 10 fours and three sixes. Ex-cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes that India’s captain, Rohit, guided the hosts to a historic victory. Moreover, Manjrekar added that Rohit Sharma’s knock was one of the finest innings in ODI cricket history. Sanjay Manjrekar told Star Sports that,

“When we talk about Rohit Sharma’s ODI batting and his greatness, we talk about the three double hundreds, and he scored a quick hundred recently as well. But according to me, this knock is one of the greatest ODI innings. There are two or three reasons for that – the pitch was slightly tricky in the afternoon, the bowling challenge was quite good, the tactics Jos Buttler used were also high quality, and India were under pressure”

Sanjay Manjrekar further added,

“You might remember a shot he played, I think off Adil Rashid’s bowling, it was an extremely small gap, and he hit a drive with power to find the boundary. Then he hit Moeen Ali over mid-off against the turn. This artistry sets Rohit Sharma apart. It’s not only Rohit, six or seven Indian players are at their peak. We talk about generation gap but nowadays there is a huge gap between India’s cricket and the other teams’ cricket”
