Rishabh Pant’s comeback in India vs Afghanistan series in January, will miss IND vs SA

Rishabh Pant will probably comeback for the Indian cricket team in the India vs Afghanistan series in January. He met through a severe accident earlier this year.

Rishabh Pant is slowly getting well and getting closer to playing cricket again after being sidelined for ten months due to a terrible car accident. A BCCI official has updated the public. He is still recovering from a near-fatal accident and subsequent knee ligament repair surgery. Therefore, he would not be able to participate in the India tour to South Africa. Rishabh Pant, the hero of India’s Gabba victory, has made incredible rehabilitation progress. However, it will take some time for him to get fully fit. Rishabh Pant comeback will take place in January in the IND vs AFG series rather than IND vs SA. Before that, he has to return to playing domestic cricket and build up his confidence and match fitness.

Rishabh Pant has been working out by himself, going to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. His progress is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team. Rishabh Pant last competed in a cricket match against Bangladesh in December. A BCCI official told InsideSport that,

“It’s still early days. It’s good that he has been batting in the nets. But he still needs some more time. He will have to go back to domestic cricket and gain the confidence back. Probably, if everything goes well, a return could be possible against Afghanistan. But again, it’s not certain yet”

In the next Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, Rishabh Pant may make a comeback to cricket. A comeback might occur in the January IND vs AFG series. If not, he plans to play in the Test series against England or the March 2024 Indian Premier League.
