Virat and Shubman Gill were spotted practicing bowling in the nets before the India vs England match. The India vs England match is on October 29 in Lucknow.
VIRAT AND SHUBMAN BOWLING
The India vs England match is at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. There have been discussions around benching players and including three spinners before the IND vs ENG game. Amidst all these, Virat and Shubman Gill were seen bowling in the nets to other batters. Apart from the standard bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat and Shubman also rehearsed. BCCI shared the video footage of Indian cricketers rehearsing in the nets. In the video, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Surya Kumar Yadav, and other regular bowlers were bowling in the net sessions to the batters.
In this edition of the ODI World Cup, Virat Kohli replaced Hardik Pandya during the India vs Bangladesh in Pune. While Hardik Pandya had an ankle injury lounging after his delivery, Virat completed his over. Moreover, Virat Kohli bowled after six years for the first time in ODI.
WASIM AKRAM STATEMENT
Former captain of Pakistan, Wasim Akram commented on Indian squad. Speaking to Sportskeeda he said,
“This squad looks good even without Pandya. If he is fit then well and good. It will be difficult to drop Shami now. I feel India shouldn’t risk Pandya because if it’s an injury to a hamstring or quad, then although you feel good initially, you could pull a muscle in the match. So let him recover 100 percent and then you can play him.”
he further added,
“Credit to the team management that whenever any player in the squad comes into the XI, he seems ready. When Shami’s ball hits the seam, it can deviate either way. That’s why I think Shami for me was the player of the match.”
