Ex-Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath says hope the 2019 World Cup demons don’t come and haunt India. India is currently at the top of the points table.

2019 WORLD CUP DEMONS

The Indian cricket team has been toping their game in the World Cup 2023. Right from their first faceoff, they have been undefeatable. Starting with Australia, they further overpowered Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. While the Indian team is currently performing competently, S.Badrinath concentrated on reminding the team what happened during the 2019 World Cup. He started by praising Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Moreover, he spoke about Rohit Sharma being easy-going and having great relationships with his teammates. Speaking with Star Sports S.Badrinath said,

“First, his captaincy has been very good. He’s stuck to the process, and backed the right players. I think Rohit is like a big brother type of captain. He’s easy-going and has a great relationship with the boys. So, I think he’s doing pretty well, and his batting form has been tremendous. He’s spoken about it before, saying that he’s going to play positively right from the word go, and that’s precisely what he’s been doing”

Furthermore, S. Badrinath expressed his concern regarding Team India. Hinting towards the 2019 World Cup, he hoped the demons wouldn’t come and haunt India. India finished first in the points table to go to the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup. However, they were defeated by New Zealand by 18 runs in the elimination round. S.Badrinath added,

“See it’s a fact that India’s middle order has not been tested, but it’s not a matter of concern, because India have been dominating and the top order is getting runs so can’t call it a concern, but a fact. But these things happen in sport, you can’t pay the price for playing too good cricket. I hope the 2019 demons don’t come and haunt India, that’s my only worry”
