Former India spinner, Piyush Chawla has recently raised his doubts on India’s middle-order for the ODI World Cup 2023.

While he has given his full support to Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul to be in the playing XI, he isn’t too sure about Shreyas Iyer.

Already everyone from fans to members of the cricketing fraternity is questioning the selection committee for the squad they’ve put together.

Says Piyush on India’s middle order,

We are talking about both of them, why not Shreyas Iyer? Shreyas Iyer’s place should also be questioned. Ishan (Kishan) cannot remain in the reserves now because of the way he has batted in the top order. People had a question about how he would bat in the middle order and the way he batted in the middle order after coming into bat in a tough situation, he is going through good form and he solves the problem of the absence of a left-hander in the middle order, which we often talk about.

Continuing further, he says,

So, he is straightaway a walk-in for me. If we talk about KL Rahul, his track record is so good and he has done so well over the years.

Chawal says Ishan Kishan is a specialist keeper for India

On the other hand, Chawla says that the team management should support Kishan and put him in the playing XI when India plays in Chennai and Lucknow.

Recently, Ishan has had a fabulous string of scores in his last four ODIs which are 82, 77, 55, and 52 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, Shreyas has already failed to create a formidable impression after his poor outing against Pakistan.

Highlights Chawla,

You have asked who should be the wicketkeeper. When India will play in Chennai and Lucknow, the No.1 wicketkeeper will be a specialist wicketkeeper and Ishan Kishan is a specialist wicketkeeper.
