India’s chief selector, Ajit Agarkar has recently announced the squad for the ODI World Cup along with the selection committee.

Moreover, he has also talked about the delicate process of making the rightful choices in the selection of a squad.

Additionally, he has also given major updates on KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah and stated that all three players are fit at the moment.

A lot of guys picked themselves. There were some fitness issues, which we had to look into. All the three guys are okay. This squad gives us the best balance. Rahul has played a couple of games over the last two days (practice games).

Afterward, he also talked about the inclusion of Ishan Kishan and stated that he’s a good headache to have for India.

Kishan played very well. We are happy to have two options, which will fight for a spot in the team. The coach and the captain will decide (who will play).

Rohit Sharma says they have picked the best India squad

Furthermore, skipper Rohit Sharma stated that they could pick only 15 players and that missing out is a normal process in the sport of cricket.

There will be some missing out and that happens every time. We can fit only 15 players. We looked at how to create a good balance and this is the best we could get.

Additionally, he has also stressed the importance of having competition in the squad.

It’s good thing if people are fighting for their spots. It is challenging. We have to look at who is in form, what opposition is infront, who will benefit more; we look at all these factors and decide upon the team for matches. This happens in cricket, we have to make tough calls. What is good for us on a given day, we do that.

India is gearing up for the marquee event as their first game is against Australia on the 8th of October at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
