India’s former spinner, Harbhajan Singh has recently supported young batter, Shubman Gill over the latter’s dip in form.

According to Bhajji, there is nothing wrong with the way Gill plays but believes that he has played too much cricket this year which is the reason.

In the game against Pakistan, Gill showed poor form as he could score only 10 from 32 balls and fans criticized him heavily on social media.

Says Harbhajan,

I think this is because of too much cricket. He has been playing for quite a while now. He had a great IPL. Every player needs some rest because IPL is a very demanding tournament. You go to travel and also play every second day. I feel he just needs a bit of a break. He’s a quality player and there’s no doubt about that.

This year, Gill was in terrific form in the IPL for the Gujarat Titans and played some brilliant knocks in the cash-rich league.

Harbhajan supports Gill’s technique and says that he will bounce back

Moreover, Bhajji has stated that while Gill may be struggling at the moment, he will no doubt bounce back once again as soon as he gains confidence.

He will come back to form and start scoring runs. I believe there’s nothing wrong with his technique and the way he’s batting. But it’s just that his confidence is a bit low and I’m sure if he gives himself a bit more time, he’s going to come good.

Furthermore, in the game against Pakistan, India’s top four batters struggled against the Pakistani bowlers and got dismissed on low scores.

However, India was rescued in the nick of time by Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan and took the team to a respectable total.

India is now battling it out against Nepal in the second game of their campaign and will look to win it in order to advance to the Super Four stage.
