IPL auction for 2024 season to be held in Dubai; first time overseas

In some great news for IPL fans, the auctions for the next season are round the corner and the excitement is high.

Meanwhile, Dubai is the location for the important ceremony and the ten teams are gearing up for the event.

Furthermore, this is the first time that an IPL event will go overseas, and is hoping to garner equal interest.

Additionally, this event will also coincide with India’s tour of South Africa and the 2nd ODI at Gqeberha.

Moreover, all ten franchises are readying their lists that they have to submit by the 15th of November.

After this process, the auction pool will be finalized in early December and the auction will finally be held.

BCCI awards every team with a purse of INR 100 crores for next auction

It has also been revealed that the BCCI has given a purse of INR 100 crores for the purchasing of players and making a strong squad for the 2024 season.

Last season, every team was awarded a purse of INR 95 crores. So, how each team spends the new money will depend entirely on the value of the players they release from their squads.

Additionally, they also have an unspent purse from the 2023 season of the IPL which they will put to good use in this auction.

Talking about how much each team has at the moment, let’s take a look.

Punjab Kings- INR 12.20 crores

Mumbai Indians- INR 0.05 crores

Sunrisers Hyderabad- INR 6.55 crores

Gujarat Titans- INR 4.45 crores

Delhi Capitals- 4.45 crores

Lucknow Super Giants- 3.55 crores

Rajasthan Royals- 3.35 crores

Royal Challengers Bangalore- INR 1.75 crores

Kolkata Knight Riders- INR 1.65 crores

Chennai Super Kings- INR 1.5 crores

Mini auctions have produced some of the most expensive buys in the IPL

However, it is no secret that IPL Mini Auctions have produced some of the most expensive buys each season.

The event in Dubai is only going to be a one-day affair than the two-day long in India, they are a really good way for franchises to pick up the best players.

Before the 2023 IPL, Sam Curran became the most expensive buy for the Punjab Kings at INR 18.5 crores last year in December.

Now, many prominent players have decided to register themselves for the upcoming auctions of the IPL.

These include Mitchell Starc who is coming back into the tournament after eight years, and Pat Cummins who decided to skip IPL last year.

Meanwhile, the names that the franchises are looking forward to purchasing are Travis Head, Chris Woakes, Alex Hales, Sam Billings, and Gerald Coetzee.
