India’s 17-member squad for the Asia Cup is already out and Chahal has faced the axe to let in Axar Patel.

While this has not stood well with many cricket fans and experts, a few of the experts are in favor.

That’s why former India skipper and BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly has hailed the decision of the selectors.

Meanwhile, Chahal was a part of the West Indies tour but he didn’t get a game as the management preferred Kuldeep over him.

On the other hand, Jadeja provided ample support to Kuldeep with his left-arm orthodox bowling.

For the Asia Cup, however, Chahal has to wait for his place if someone faces an injury in the squad.

But, Ganguly has stated that if any of the spinners face an injury, then the selectors might put in Chahal.

They have picked Axar Patel ahead of (Yuzvendra) Chahal because of his batting. So I think it’s a good selection. Chahal can still come back if someone gets injured. This is a 17-member squad, two, in any case, will have to move out.

For Ganguly, rankings have no place during an India-Pakistan game; Chahal to wait for a place

Meanwhile, Ganguly has stated that ICC rankings don’t matter during an India-Pakistan game.

He has also said that whichever team plays well on the 2nd of September, will win the game.

Currently, Pakistan is 2nd and India is 3rd in the ICC ODI Rankings and Ganguly has even praised the pace attack of Pakistan.

Rankings don’t matter, who plays well on that day matters. They are a very good side. They have a very good bowling attack- Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf. They are a very balanced team. India is a strong side. It’s how you play on that particular day; there is no rocket science to it.
