Pietersen says Kohli was a better bowler than batter back in 2011

Virat Kohli Naveen-ul-Haq

India’s Virat Kohli has received massive praise from former England batter Kevin Pietersen who has termed his delivery unplayable.

Back in 2011, India toured England for a long time comprising Tests, ODIs, and a one-off T20I.

During the one-off T20I at Manchester in 2011, Kohli bowled a wide delivery that was quickly collected by then-skipper, MS Dhoni who then stumped Pietersen from behind.

Meanwhile, Pietersen is still all praises for Kohli and has stated that he bowled a very clever delivery that was unplayable for him.

Additionally, this was Virat Kohli’s maiden wicket in T20Is and he was quite ecstatic about it as well.

Originally, the post was shared by RVCJ Media that captions the same saying,

King Kohli magic in bowling.

Moreover, Pietersen adds his comment to the video saying,

He was a better bowler than batter then. Unplayable delivery!

Virat’s records in T20Is and ODIs for India over the years

Furthermore, Kohli has scalped four wickets in T20Is including the likes of Samit Patel, Mohammed Hafeez, and Johnson Charles.

He has last bowled in the ODI World Cup game against Bangladesh where he finished off Hardik Pandya’s last three deliveries as the latter left the field owing to a twisted ankle.

Kohli’s last bowling in T20Is was against Hong Kong in last year’s Asia Cup in Dubai.

Talking about Kohli’s batting in T20Is, he has 4008 runs in 115 games and has an average of 52.73 which includes one century and 37 fifties.

Additionally, he has also broken Mahela Jayawardene’s record for most runs in international cricket but still needs time to reach the top as there are three batters barring his way.

They are Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, and Sachin Tendulkar, all former greats of the game.

Also, talking about the ongoing World Cup 2023, Kohli has made 354 runs in just 5 games and has an average of 118 including one ton and three half-centuries.

In India’s last game against New Zealand, he made 95 runs and allowed his side to maintain their unbeaten streak.

Sunil Gavaskar feels Kohli will get to his 50th ODI ton on his birthday in Kolkata

Now, former India skipper, Sunil Gavaskar has come up with a massive prediction for Virat Kohli.

He has firmly stated that Kohli will get to his record-breaking 50th ODI ton on his birthday against South Africa.

I don’t know about the 49th, but I know about the record-breaking 50th. Kohli will slam his 50th ODI century against South Africa at the Eden Gardens and what better occasion than his birthday?

Adding further, he says,

It’s a sight when you slam a ton there because the Kolkata crowd gives you a standing ovation, and cheers for you, the air is filled with whistles and claps. It is a moment to savour for every batter.

Before South Africa, India has two games against England and Sri Lanka at Lucknow and Mumbai respectively.
