Mohammed Shami’s injury is going to keep him out of the IND vs SA Tests. BCCI confirmed that Shami will miss the series.

IND VS SA TESTS

Mohammed Shami, an Indian bowler, will not play in the forthcoming IND vs SA Tests series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that he won’t be available for the Tests. Although Shami was in the squad earlier, his ability to play depends on his fitness. Moreover, the pacer has not been approved by the board’s medical team. According to the media statement issued by the BCCI on Saturday, December 16, he is not playing in the series. A BCCI release said ” Mr Mohd Shami, whose participation in the Test series was subject to fitness has not been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team and the fast bowler is ruled out of the two Tests.  

Furthermore, apart from Shami, Deepak Chahar has also with drawn from the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The IND vs SA ODI series begins on December 17, Sunday. According to the announcement, Chahar has chosen not to play because of family emergency. Moreover, Akash Deep, an uncapped bowler, will be his substitute. BCCI’s statement said,

“Mr Deepak Chahar has informed the BCCI that he will not be available for the upcoming ODI series due to a family medical emergency. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Mr Akash Deep as his replacement.” 

SHREYAS AND COACHING STAFF WILL JOIN AFTER 1ST ODI

Furthermore, BCCI said that,

“After the conclusion of the first ODI in Johannesburg on 17thDecember, Mr Shreyas Iyer will join the Test squad to prepare for the Test series. He will not be available for the second and third ODI and will take part in the inter-squad game. Team India (Senior Men) Head Coach Mr Rahul Dravid, Batting Coach Mr Vikram Rathour, Bowling Coach Mr Paras Mhambrey and Fielding Coach Mr T. Dilip will link up with the Test squad and oversee their preparations for the inter-squad game and the Test series”
