Following the current Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) series against Australia. The India team will head to South Africa for three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches. Starting in December 2023.

With rumors circulating that Virat Kohli would only play in the two tests as part of the WTC cycle and miss the white-ball series against South Africa, the future is still unclear.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had an incredible 2023 ODI World Cup; the former scored a record 765 runs, while the latter was equally impressive with 596 runs. However, the selectors have not yet made a decision regarding the futures of either player. But in the finals, which were held in Ahmedabad, India was beaten by the formidable Australians on their home ground.

Bumrah, Rahul and Shreyas back in Test squad

Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer have returned to the India Test team for the two-match series against South Africa. Virat Kohli, who chose not to participate in the white-ball leg of the tour, is a member of Rohit Sharma’s squad, while Ajinkya Rahane has been dropped.

Mohammed Shami is also back, but his inclusion is contingent on his fitness; the BCCI statement announcing the squad stated that the fast bowler was “currently undergoing medical treatment.” Shami was rested for India s most recent Test series in the West Indies in July.
