Arshin Kulkarni excels in India’s victory against Afghanistan in the U19 IND vs AFG Asia Cup first game. India won by seven wickets.

IND U19 defeated AFG U19 in their opening game of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023. The guys in blue at the ICC Academy Ground 1, Dubai, took down the target by three wickets. Arshin Kulkarni was riding high on an all-rounder effort by scoring 70 off 105 balls with a strike rate of 66.67. Moreover, his score includes four fours. In addition, he grabbed three wickets in eight overs, bowling with an economy of 3.60.

The toss was in favor of the Indian skipper Uday Saharan, who decided to field first. Afghanistan’s U19’s innings at the bat started unsatisfactorily. The openers of the Afghanistan team could only manage 42 runs in the first ten overs with the loss of one wicket. Wafiullah Tarakhil got out to a strong start, but Raj Limbani sent him back for only fifteen. For the partnership of the third wicket, Jamshid Zadran and Sohail Khan settled in. However, Arshin Kulkarni and Murugan Abhishek swiftly placed restrictions on them before any significant harm could be done.

In an attempt to recover the innings and aim for a thrilling climax, Akram Mohammadzai and Numan Shah tried. However, both batters lost wickets before the end of Afghanistan’s innings. Following this, the boys in blue gained momentum. Afghanistan bowled out for 173 in 50 overs. Indian bowlers that impressed the most were Kulkarni and Limbani. While Kulkarni took three wickets bowling eight overs, Limbani grabbed three wickets in ten overs. Moreover, Naman Tiwari finished with a figure of 2/30 in ten overs with an economy of 3.

In reply to Afghanistan’s target, India’s highest scorer was Arshin Kulkarni. In addition, Musheer Khan scored 48 off 53 balls. Skipper Uday Sharma scored 20 off 49 deliveries.
