BEN STOKES MISSED OUT ON ENG VS. NZ

A few players from both teams skipped the inaugural match of the World Cup 2023. Earlier to the faceoff, England’s captain, Jos Buttler, shared the information about Ben Stokes missing out on the very first match. As per reports, England’s notable all-rounder was holding a minor niggle. England’s skipper Jos Buttler after the toss informed about Ben Stokes and said,

“We would have looked to bowl first. We had a good series against New Zealand, and everyone seems to be a in really good place. Ben is going to miss this game. He has a niggle”

It was not only Ben Stokes who missed out on the inaugural face-off. New Zealand’s three prominent players, Kane Williamson, pacer Tim Southee, spinner Ish Sodhi, and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, missed out on the opening match. New Zealand’s stand-in captain, Tom Latham, after the toss, informed about Lokie Ferguson suffering from a minor niggle. It was obvious that Tim Southee would miss some games of the World Cup as he was bearing an injury. However, the reason for Ish Sodhi missing out on the game is yet to be known. Tom Latham after the toss said,

“Looks a reasonably good surface and hopefully we give us a chance with the bat later on. Guys have been in different parts of the world and got together here a week ago. Any competition you play in the lead-up to the World Cup is important. Kane is not quite ready yet and is progressing nicely. Ferguson has a bit of a niggle and misses out along with Sodhi, Kane and Tim Southee”
