Former India opener, Aakash Chopra has recently stated that India and New Zealand could be the finalists in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
Talking about both team’s performances so far, both are running at an unbeaten streak and occupy the top two positions in the points table.
Meanwhile, Chopra has also stated that in the absence of top players like Tim Southee and Kane Williamson, New Zealand hasn’t wavered one bit.
Also, New Zealand has proven themselves to be a formidable side in this edition of the ODI World Cup.
Similarly, India has also started their World Cup campaign on a high after getting four wins on the trot.
Now, the Men in Blue would very much like to beat New Zealand and get revenge for the 2019 semifinal where they were almost winning the game.
New Zealand was not considered the favorites to lift the World Cup
However, a few years back, things were not as rosy for the Blackcaps as they are at the present moment.
Getting injury concerns and despite being finalists of the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups, experts weren’t calling them favorites at all.
Even now they don’t have their main players but nonetheless, have managed to win four games in a row.
Now, they are becoming strong favorites to win their maiden ODI World Cup title after a brilliant performance.
Meanwhile, India has been touted as a favorite before the start of the World Cup and they are also performing well at the moment.
Mostly, everyone wants India to win their 3rd title and 2nd at home but New Zealand has also put up a strong case for themselves.
Both sides will go up against each other on the 22nd of October and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
