Shubman Gill is six points away from surpassing Babar Azam in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings. Babar Azam is currently posing at the top of the ODI Batting rankings with 829 rating points.

MEN’S ODI BATTING RANKINGS

Shubman Gill is currently at 823 rating points and just a spot lower than Babar Azam. In the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings Rohit Sharma is ranked eighth, while Virat Kohli has risen four positions to the top five. Shubman Gill could have surpassed Babar Azam till now, but the youngster suffered from dengue. Therefore, he had to miss the initial two matches of the World Cup 2023. Playing against Bangladesh, Shubman Gill scored 53 off 55 balls. Shubman Gill is on the verge of dethroning Babar Azam from the first position.

In the meantime, following some incredible performances at the World Cup, ex-skipper Virat Kohli once again cracked at the top five in ODI batting rankings. With a four-position surge to NO. 5, Virat Kohli seems certain to climb the rankings much higher. He and David Warner, who has also been having a great World Cup run, are tied for fifth place. In Dharamshala, Virat Kohli demonstrated his exceptional form by scoring 95 runs against New Zealand. His innings enabled India to win their first five World Cup 2023 matches. Moreover, Virat smashed 103 runs against Bangladesh in Pune, bringing his total number of ODI centuries to 48. He is one century away from equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s centuries in ODI history.

Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen, the two South African batters, have also climbed up the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings. In the World Cup 2023, Quinton de Kock has struck three hundreds in five games. In addition, he is the seventh batsman to hit three centuries in a single season in World Cup history.
