Star India batter, Shubman Gill has recently talked about his blossoming partnership with senior pro and skipper, Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, the youngster is in good batting form for India and has already got tons in ODI and T20I cricket.

He hit a double ton and a T20I ton against New Zealand earlier this year and was prolific in the IPL as well.

Playing for Gujarat Titans, Gill amassed a massive 890 runs and was the leading run-scorer in the tournament.

Furthermore, experts and commentators have already stated that Gill is the next big thing in international cricket.

But, he and India will have to play well in the two big-ticket tournaments and win them so as to gain more respect from fans and experts alike.

Additionally, India always wins matches when their openers play and score well at the top.

Recently, Gill has formed a superb partnership with Rohit at the top of the order. Both of them have opened nine innings for India and amassed 685 runs with an average of 76.11.

Gill has also explained that his and Rohit’s batting styles are quite different from each other and they complement each other well.

I think because his (Rohit’s) targeted areas are a bit different (to mine). He loves to go aerial in the Powerplay, and I’m someone who likes to find the gaps and keep getting those boundaries, and he’s someone who likes to hit sixes. So I think that combination works well. It feels great to be able to open with him, especially knowing that all focus is on him.

Adding further, he says,

He’s someone who likes the other batters to go and just express himself and play the way I want to play the game. So in that nature, he gives the players full freedom for how they want to express their game.

India will have to be quite wary of Pakistan’s three-pronged attack; Gill and Rohit may open the batting

India is currently engaged in a T20I series against Ireland and most of the reserve players are playing this series.

The other players have already reached Sri Lanka and everyone will be expecting Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to be at their best in the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, India will start off their campaign against Pakistan on the 2nd of September at Kandy.

However, Gill and Rohit will have to dominate the pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf.

Therefore, fans are waiting eagerly for this electrifying clash between the arch-rivals and will be cheering wildly for their sides.
