Aakash Chopra lauds Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for India’s 5th win

Cricketer-turned-commentator, Aakash Chopra was full of praises for India skipper, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Apparently, India won their 5th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup after defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets at Dharamsala.

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, India faced a good target of 274 runs to chase.

Meanwhile, Rohit started India’s innings well by hitting 46 from 40 balls which gave his side a good start.

Moreover, this win has placed India at the top of the points table with 10 points.

Furthermore, Chopra reviewed yesterday’s game and said that Rohit totally changed the face of the game in the second innings.

If leading from the front had a face, it is Rohit Sharma. He is the guy who shows it by doing it. He changes the match on his own. There was a threat from Trent Boult and Matt Henry at the start. He neutralized that threat.

Additionally, Chopra states that Rohit’s aggressive approach made both Boult and Henry change their plans a bit.

The biggest sign of that was Trent Boult went around the stumps after starting over the stumps. It means that he was no longer focusing on swing and was going for the angle. Angle means Trent Boult’s stature was halved.

Adding further, he says,

Matt Henry was bowling extremely well but Rohit jumped down the track and hit him for a six. When Rohit plays, he plays differently. He deserved a fifty and more. He got an inside edge and got out.

Talking about Rohit’s innings, he smashed four boundaries and four maximums before inside-edging a Lockie Ferguson delivery that went crashing down his stumps.

Additionally, he also stitched together a 71-run partnership with Shubman Gill in just 11.1 overs which was a positive start to the chase.

Chopra says Virat Kohli is a living legend of the game

Meanwhile, commenting on Virat Kohli, Chopra states that he is a living legend who stayed almost till the end to ensure that India completes its 5th win of the tournament.

Virat Kohli’s story is different. He is a living legend. The greatness is because he understands how to take the game forward, the demands of the situation, the sort of conditions that are there, and the pace at which he needs to pull the match.

However, Chopra has also commented that Kohli had a big role to play in the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav.

He feels that Kohli should have run to the striker’s end and completed the run but decided to stop a bit too late and that resulted in SKY’s demise at the crease.
