West Indies Women’s skipper, Hayley Matthews has set a new record for herself in the ongoing T20I series against Australia Women.

She is now the No.1 T20I allrounder in the latest ICC charts after her sensational performance yesterday.

After being appointed as skipper last year in June, Matthews has totally led her team from the front.

Although she is just 25 years old, Matthews is already nine years into international cricket for West Indies Women.

She now has 480 ranking points as she is the new position holder in the allrounder’s charts of the ICC.

During the 2nd T20I yesterday at Sydney, Matthews played the innings of her lifetime as she scored a brilliant ton.

In the first T20I, the visitors were badly beaten and this was a do-or-die game for them to keep the series alive.

In yesterday’s game, Australia Women lost the toss and were invited to bat first by Matthews. They posted a total of 212/6 in their 20 overs.

Meanwhile, Matthews took her time in the middle and then punished the Aussie bowlers.

This game tested Matthews’ skills of playing in various T20 leagues around the world and she passed it with flying colours.

She was ultimately dismissed for 132 from 64 balls and her side went on to win the game.

Additionally, Matthews also picked up three wickets in the first innings. She was awarded the Player of the Match for her performances.

She has now collected 7 Player of the Match awards which is quite exceptional for a woman cricketer.

Also, she has scored 231 runs in just two games against Australia in this series and scalped four wickets.

In the ICC T20I batter rankings, Matthews occupies the 7th spot and in the bowlers’ rankings, she is now at the 5th spot.

Meanwhile, Tahlia McGrath is the No.1 T20I batter while Sophie Ecclestone is the top bowler in the shortest format.
