The Irani Cup was a thrilling contest between the Rest of India and Ranji Champions, Saurashtra.

While the Rest of India were pretty good on Day 2 of the Irani Cup, it was Day 3 that brought in quite the excitement in the tournament.

Apparently, the Rest of India bowlers absolutely dominated Saurashtra and won the trophy by 175 runs in the end.

Moreover, Saurabh Kumar picked up the wicket of Jayant Yadav, and the home team was bundled out for a mere 214 runs.

During their innings, the Rest of India batters, Sai Sudharsan and Mayank Agarwal were at their very best.

However, they were cut short by Saurashtra’s Parth Bhut who dismantled them for some wickets.

Eventually, the youngster picked up 7 wickets in the innings and outfoxed the visitors on just 160 runs.

Now, Jaydev Unadkat’s side needed 254 runs to chase down to win the tournament and the trophy.

But, the spin-friendly wicket at Rajkot made things worse for the hosts.

Now, it was the turn of Saurabh Kumar to find himself in the wickets column for his team as he dominated the bowling.

He destroyed Saurashtra’s top order as he scalped six wickets to give the Rest of India an easy and comfortable victory over the hosts.

Shams Mulani then picked up three wickets of his own to completely put out Saurashtra from the race.

With his exceptional bowling, Saurabh Kumar ensured that the Rest of India got to lift the prestigious Irani Cup.

He was also awarded the Player of the Match for his splendid performance with the ball. He picked up a total of 10 wickets and also scored some essential runs for his team.

Before the start of the domestic season in India, Saurabh wants to continue in the same fashion as he has done up till now. He says,

It was important to get runs during that time. We get an idea on what length to bowl on this pitch and that helped. Those were good catches from Sarfaraz and that helped the bowlers. Has been a good start and would like to continue the same way.
