As India gears up for the Pakistani challenge in the Asia Cup, the BCCI has decided to announce India’s ODI World Cup squad.

The India-Pakistan clash is a vital one for the selectors at the BCCI because it will help them decide the final set of players.

Moreover, India can also make small changes here and there to this squad till the 28th of September before the World Cup starts.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan are in Group A in the Asia Cup and will face each other on the 2nd of September in Kandy.

Additionally, India will play Australia in a 3-match ODI series after the Asia Cup which will start from the 27th of September.

Therefore, this is also a series that the selectors will be looking out for when they finish picking the 15-member squad.

There is also a high possibility that the selectors will keep some of the players on standby as the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have made a comeback to the Indian squad.

Sanju Samson added as a traveling reserve to the Asia Cup squad

Furthermore, in recent news, KL Rahul has suffered yet another injury and is now being monitored by the Indian team’s medical staff.

Therefore, the BCCI has decided to add Sanju Samson as a traveling reserve to the Asia Cup squad so that he can seamlessly enter it if Rahul fails to recover in time.

Moreover, Rahul’s stats at the No.5 position are great when it comes to ODI cricket.

In just 18 matches, he has amassed 742 runs with an average of 53 and a strike rate of 99.33.

When India won the ODI World Cup in 2011, Yuvraj Singh was the No.5 batter and was awarded the Player of the Series award for his phenomenal performances in the tournament.

Therefore, the anticipation is quite high among the Indian fans for KL Rahul who will get the No.5 position in the World Cup.
