In shocking news for India, allrounder Axar Patel is not going to be available for the 3rd ODI against Australia at Rajkot.

Apparently, Axar is dealing with a quadriceps strain that will not take too much time to heal. He is currently at the NCA, working on his rehabilitation.

Previously, in the Asia Cup, Axar got several injuries in the game against Bangladesh.

Therefore, he is struggling at the moment but will be able to make it in time for the ODI World Cup.

Now, with this strain not recovering in time, India will have to play without the presence of Axar in the 3rd ODI as well.

Moreover, everyone is expecting Axar to make a quick recovery and make it in time for the warm-up games of the ODI World Cup.

If all goes well, then he will also be able to participate fully in the upcoming ODI World Cup as well.

If Axar doesn’t recover fully, then Ashwin will get a break-in

However, there are issues that need to be solved quickly in order for Axar to become a part of the ODI World Cup squad.

He will have to show a quick recovery from all his injuries and remain injury-free in order to participate in the tournament.

But, in case that doesn’t happen, then India will have to call in the experienced Ravichandran Ashwin to replace him in the squad.

This could be a big break for Ashwin who is currently on fire against Australia as seen in the two ODIs so far.

Already grabbing good wickets, Ashwin is presenting the BCCI with a strong case for himself and making his availability clear for the marquee event.

Therefore, Ashwin is a likely contender to replace Axar if the latter fails to recover in time.
