Aakash Chopra believes this player can replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test Captain. Rohit Sharma will be captain in the next two-match Test series against South Africa.

INDIA’S NEXT TEST CAPTAIN

Aakash Chopra, the former Indian cricketer, believes Rishabh Pant may replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test captain. According to the renowned commentator, Rishabh Pant is a 24-carat gold Test cricketer. Moreover, Chopra stated that a gamechanger such as a wicketkeeper batter can be an ideal long-term Rohit substitute. In addition to Pant, Shubman Gill was also suggested by Aakash Chopra as a potential substitute. Shubman is all set to captain the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. After Hardik Pandya’s departure, the star batsman will lead from the front. On the other side, Rishabh Pant is anticipated to lead the Delhi Capitals (DC). He will be making his comeback after his eagerly awaited comeback from injury. Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel said that,

“I am talking about extremely long-term, it could be Shubman Gill. I am not talking about now, I am talking about the distant future. It could be Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant as a Test cricketer is 24-carat gold. So he could also be the one. He is a game-changer. So I will look towards one of these two once Rohit says he is done with Test cricket and that you can appoint someone else as the skipper”

The Delhi Capitals captain, Pant, had a narrow escape in December last year when his car crashed into a divider. Moreover, after the crash, his car also caught fire. After 40 days and several conditions, Pant was finally able to resume his career. On Thursday, he trained with the Delhi Capitals at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus Stadium with his teammates. Moreover, Pant is on a three-day tour to discuss team-building tactics in advance of December 19. The IPL auctions are on December 19 in Dubai.
