Parthiv Patel comments on KL Rahul’s wicketkeeping skills for the 1st IND vs SA Test match. The two-match Test series between India and South Africa began on December 26 in Centurion.

PARTHIV PATEL ON RAHUL’S WICKETKEEPING SKILLS

It seems that Parthiv Patel has some concerns about KL Rahul’s wicketkeeping skills. He commented on the issue before the 1st Test match between India and South Africa on December 26 in Centurion. According to Patel’s social media post, he believes that Rahul may not be the best choice wicketkeeper in Test matches. Moreover, the former Indian cricketer also said that Rahul lacks experience in first-class or Ranji Trophy cricket. He posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that,

“india’s test match wicketkeeper should be someone who is keeping regularly in ranji trophy or first class cricket….#imho #INDvSA #IndianCricket”

However, KL Rahul didn’t keep a hush. Some social media users trolled Parthiv Patel’s remarks on KL Rahul’s wicketkeeping skills. The netizens shared new stories and videos of Patel’s mistakes during his playing career. However, Patel’s response to an internet user’s question about a similar keeper like him was straightforward, he said that, to wo drop ho jata hai… (then he gets dropped).”

DRAVID ON KL’S ROLE

Furthermore, in the pre-match press conference, Indian cricket team head coach, Rahul Dravid confirmed KL Rahul’s role as a wicketkeeper in the Test series. He said that,

“It’s an exciting challenge. It’s an opportunity for him to do something different. With Ishan unavailable, we had a couple of keepers to choose from. Rahul is very confident about giving it a go. We understand that he hasn’t done that quite often (in longest format), but he has done it in fifty overs, and even that is tough” He further added,

“He has done a lot of keeping in the past five-six months. One of the things here is that there is more pace bowling than spin, which will ease him into the role. We will see how it goes. It is nice to have someone like him, someone who has the ability with the bat and keep”
