After the Indian top six batters‘ outstanding World Cup 2023 performance, Mark Ramprakash showered them with praise.

The Indian top-order batsmen have been in incredible form during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Scoring a large amount of runs and being crucial to their country’s progress to the final.

Mark Ramprakash heaped praise on Indian top six batters

The tournament’s top run scorer, Virat Kohli, has been the standout performer, spearheading the charge with an incredible 711 runs scored over 10 innings. His supremacy at the bat is shown by his strike rate of 90.68 and average of 101.57. In one of the games, he even recorded the highest score of 117.

With 550 runs, captain Rohit Sharma has also been in devastating form and has greatly aided the team’s success. Throughout the tournament, his aggressive batting at the top has been crucial in setting the tone for Indian impressive totals and in delivering strong starts. If he puts on another thrilling display in the tournament final versus Australia. He might move up to the second spot in terms of runs scored.

The rest of the Indian top six have also made their presence felt. Shreyas Iyer has scored 526 runs with KL Rahul hitting 386 and Shubman Gill getting 350.

Ramprakash stated in his Guardian column that the Indian top six has provided a model for batting in One-Day Internationals. The former England cricket player also highlighted their conventional batting style by not batting for reverse sweeps or ramp shots.

Indian top six should be a template for 50-over batting. Very technical players whose games are built around being well-balanced, with orthodox grips, who get forward and back well, present the full face well, and because of their balance have good timing. As a purist and a traditionalist I have celebrated not just their skill but also their method, and they have shown that in this format there is nothing as valuable as high-class stroke players who can play really strong shots off the front foot and the back foot.” said rampraksh
