Trouble for head coach Rahul Dravid for at least two spots in the India vs South Africa Test beginning today.

INDIA VS SOUTH AFRICA TEST

It seems like the Indian team management is facing a daunting task ahead of the opening Test against South Africa on Boxing Day. Finding the right balance between the best combinations as per conditions is a struggle for the team. At least two slots are giving head coach Rahul Dravid a tough time. KL Rahul will keep wickets and also strengthen the batting. Meanwhile, choosing between Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna to replace Shami would be challenging.

Even though some decisions might seem straightforward, things won’t be easy for the team management. They will have to make some tough and unpopular decisions. The conclusions of their choices should ensure that the team performs well in the upcoming Test.

The India vs South Africa Test at Centurion is going to be challenging, particularly for the selection of the right bowlers. The pitch at Centurion is known for being a paradise for pace bowlers. Primarily, the pitch is hard and bouncy, which helps reverse swing during the latter half of the day. Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna are the two rightful candidates to replace the injured Shami. However, head coach Rahul Dravid will be facing the difficult task of choosing between the both. Mukesh Kumar, who made his Test debut in the Caribbean, seems more skilled. In red-ball cricket, he has an average of 21 plus runs per wicket. On the other hand, Prasidh Krishna recently achieved a five-wicket haul against South Africa during the first unofficial Test.

KL Rahul has been named as a keeper for the series, but he has been out of form lately. Therefore, his role as a keeper and batsman is a cause for concern. However, Rahul has already stated that he is willing to take up any role the team management wants him to play.
