Ellyse Perry hopeful to contribute to the Australian summer schedule

Australia

Australia Women allrounder, Ellyse Perry is all set to contribute for her side in the upcoming summer schedule of cricket.

After completing the rehab of her injured knee, she looks all set to play as many games as she can for her side.

Recently, she suffered a knee injury when Australia Women were touring Ireland for an ODI series back in July this year.

Now, she is putting all her focus in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies women in which she bowled a little bit as well.

Says Perry on her return to international cricket,

I’ve really enjoyed working with Scott Prestwidge, our bowling coach, and we were doing some really great stuff over in England in the nets, so it was a bit of a bummer to have to cut that over the last couple of months to rehab my knee. To get back out there with Scottie was really fun today. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the summer and hopefully being able to contribute with the ball.

Ellyse Perry happy that cricket will be making its comeback to the Olympic Games

Recently, an announcement has been made that cricket is going to be a part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

This will be the first time in 128 years since cricket will make its much-awaited comeback.

This news has left Perry quite ecstatic but she has not set any hopes of her playing in the Games.

She, however, feels that this will be a great opportunity for cricketers to showcase their talent on the biggest stage once again.

Last year, Perry played in the Commonwealth Games where her side clinched gold after defeating India Women in the final.

Says Perry on cricket’s inclusion in the Olympic Games,

I’d love to still be contributing and around the group if I’m still enjoying it, and if I’m good enough to be making contributions, but I probably haven’t pinned my sights on anything just yet (so) we’ll see. I’d imagine it’d be hugely important to every team involved… it’s an amazing announcement for the sport and a great new opportunity and an amazing competition. To be a part of that- we had the experience with the Comm Games really recently and that was a fabulous event to be a part of.
