BCCI faces trolling from fans over Shubman Gill’s selection

Yesterday, the BCCI announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup tournament.

While there is the return of some big names to the team, one player’s selection caused a great stir on social media.

It was none other than Shubman Gill whose selection dilemma sparked a meme-fest on Twitter.

However, the confusion was quickly restored but by then, fans continued with their memes.

Meanwhile, the Asia Cup is scheduled to start on the 30th of August with Pakistan taking on Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium.

On the other hand, India will start their campaign against Pakistan on the 2nd of September at Kandy’s Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

The announcement of the squad was done by former cricketer, Ajit Agarkar who is now the current chairman of the selection committee.

But, the broadcaster for the series, Star Sports botched up the announcement.

However, they then quickly resolved the issue and issued a fresh statement saying that he is picked for the tournament.

Also, Agarkar stated that Sanju Samson is a traveling reserve for India in this tournament.

KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Bumrah back for India; BCCI names full squad

Meanwhile, some great news came India’s way in the Asia Cup squad. The return of Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul has been welcomed by fans.

But, another name has also caught the fans’ attention and it is none other than Tilak Varma.

Varma had a stellar IPL 2023 for the Mumbai Indians wherein he amassed 343 runs from 11 matches with an average of 42.87.

Talking about the groups in this tournament, then India is grouped along with Pakistan and Nepal in Group A.

On the other hand, defending champs, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan form Group B.

All six teams will face each other after which the Super Four stage will start.

From the Super Four stage, the top two teams will qualify for the finals.

The final is to be played on the 17th of September at Colombo’s Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

Furthermore, this time around, the Asia Cup is going to be played in the 50-over format.
