Former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist terms Indian’s Rishabh Pant as ‘inspiration’. Leading up to the much anticipated World Cup, India will be missing services of Rishabh Pant, owing to a regrettable car accident in December. While the dynamic KL Rahul seems poised to take on the wicketkeeping duties. India will deeply miss Pant’s services in the mega-event.

Former Australian legend Adam Gilchrist acknowledged the impact the young Indian cricketer has. He lauded Pant’s aggressive and fearless style of play. Which has not only made him a formidable force but has also served as a source of inspiration for wicketkeeper-batters worldwide.

The Australian legend said,

I think Rishabh has inspired a lot of wicket-keeper batters around the world to play that [aggressive] way. It is fascinating for such a young man to have such an impact that Rishabh has had, and others are responding and playing in that positive manner,

Gilchrist feels India has even resources to replace Rishabh Pant

In 28-year-old’s absence, the Indian team finds itself well-equipped with alternative options behind the stumps. KL Rahul, who has proven his mettle as a wicketkeeper-batter, is likely to take the mantle. However, Ishan Kishan, who made the most of his opportunity can also be an option behind the stumps.

The 51-year Gilchrist adds on,

“They(India) have got a couple of (wicketkeeping) options there; obviously, when KL was out with his injury, Ishan Kishan took his opportunity and played really well, and now they find themselves in the team together so that’s a wonderful case of taking an opportunity”

Notably, India will lock-horns will Australia in three-match ODI series before the marquee event. First game of the three-match series will be played in Mohali, on 22nd September. However, India will also commence their ODI World Cup campaign against Australia, on 8th October in Chennai.
