If rain interrupts the NZ vs SL game, will Pakistan qualify for the World Cup 2023 semifinal? The game against Sri Lanka is a must-win match for New Zealand to enter into the semis.

WORLD CUP 2023 SEMIFINAL

The World Cup 2023 semifinal race is taking a gripping turn, with three nations fighting for the spot. From being the table toppers in the initial stages of the tournament, New Zealand is now struggling to make it. On the other hand, Pakistan, after losing four consecutive games, is back in form. For the semifinals, India and South Africa have already fixed their spot. Moreover, Australia is now the third team to qualify for the semis. Therefore, only one spot remains in the semifinal qualification. The first match to look out for is NZ vs SL on November 9.

Although Afghanistan has one more game to earn ten points, their net run rate(NRR) is negative. Nevertheless, Pakistan’s fate relies on the NZ vs SL game. It seems their wish might come true as there might be heavy rain in Bengaluru. With rain having a significant influence in the ”Silicon Valley of India,” NZ will be an inch away from the semifinal. Previously, NZ faced a defeat against Pakistan in Bengaluru due to rain. The Kiwis ended in a defeat owing to the DLS method.

The Kiwis would not want a recurrence of the last game in NZ vs SL. Unfortunately, if the game gets washed out, New Zealand will end up with nine points. Thus, Pakistan would have a wonderful chance to qualify for the semis. However, Pakistan would need to win their remaining game against England. In addition, if Afghanistan fails to win against South Africa, it will be suitable for Pakistan. The World Cup 2023 semifinal will be on November 15 and 16.
