Think back to the 2019 World Cup, when Rohit scored a century.

The most by a batsman in a single World Cup edition, Rohit Sharma enjoyed a remarkable 2019 ODI campaign that included five hundreds. At the legendary Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. During the match versus arch-rival Pakistan, one of those hundreds was scored.

HITMAN scored a record-breaking hundred against Pakistan at the 2019 World Cup

Due to his undefeated hundred against South Africa earlier in the tournament, Rohit was already in excellent shape when he faced the Pakistani bowlers. He imitated Sachin Tendulkar’s six over point. Which the legend used in his 98-run innings against the same opponents in the 2003 version.

When the spinners entered the attack, Rohit continued to scorch with his signature pull shots and did not spare them. He quickly reached his fifty-point milestone, doing so after only 34 deliveries. And rohit took just 85 deliveries to hit the three-figure threshold.

With more than 10 overs remaining, Rohit Sharma was well on his way to achieving something spectacular after scoring 140 runs off just 112 deliveries. But while attempting an unconventional hit off Hasan Ali’s delivery, he lost his wicket.

The Men in Blue were able to record a commanding total of 336-5 when batting first, but the damage has already been done. After a rain delay, it was decided that Pakistan had suffered a significant defeat because they were nowhere near the pursuit.

Trust me, wasn’t thinking of a double hundred” – Rohit

Rohit Sharma, who has already scored three ODI double-hundreds, had the chance to add a fourth, and that too against Pakistan at the World Cup.

He said, though, that he was not thinking about the milestone while batting. He was sorry for the way he had been dismissed. After being the game’s player of the match, Rohit said the following during the post-game presentation:

“I was unhappy (when I got out), particularly the way I played that shot. He just pushed mid-on back and brought fine leg in, a little misjudgment from my side. When you’re set you want to get as many runs as possible. Trust me, wasn’t thinking of a double hundred. Got out at the wrong time, the partnership was becoming solid and we wanted to kill the game.”
