Given his stellar records as the team’s head coach, Rahul Dravid has finally received an extension from the BCCI. Moreover, the extension is at least till the 2024 T20I World Cup. Some fantastic outcomes have been coming since he became the head coach of Team India in November 2021. Rahul Dravid led the U-19 squad to a title in 2018 and a second-place result in 2016. Before being selected as a coach for the senior team for India, Dravid guided the U-19 boys. Moreover, he has a history of coaching for the Delhi and Rajasthan IPL teams. Not only that, but he led the NCA Bengaluru for a considerable period.

Regarding Team India, Dravid coached the team in ten T20I series, nine ODI series, and five-Test series. Rahul Dravid continued to produce strong performance despite not winning an ICC title. In addition, India has not even won a World Test Championship in his presence as a head coach. Indian team failed to make it to the final of the ICC World Cup in 2015 and 2019. However, Rahul Dravid may actually be credited for performing better. He did a better job of leading India in the 2023 World Cup. Regarding his extension as the head coach, Rahul Dravid said,

“I thank the BCCI and the Office Bearers for placing their trust in me, endorsing my vision, and providing support during this period. The demands of this role necessitate considerable time away from home, and I deeply appreciate my family’s sacrifices and support. Their instrumental role behind the scenes has been invaluable. As we embrace new challenges post the World Cup, we remain committed to the pursuit of excellence.”
