NZ vs BAN: KANE WILLIAMSON CONFIRMS HIS COMEBACK

The Kiwis’ star batsman and captain, Kane Williamson, has been absent from the initial two matches of the WC for his nation. The reason behind his missing from the squad was his injury. The cricketer sustained an injury during the Ipl 2023. Since then, he has been out of action. Before the World Cup 2023, his position in the team was questionable.

However, later, the cricketer was part of the New Zealand squad and had also played in the warm-up games before WC. Moreover, Kane also slashed a half-century against Pakistan in the warm-up match. Yet, his fans couldn’t get a glimpse of him in the first two matches of the marquee event against England and the Netherlands. Tom Lathman stepped in as the stand-in captain in Kane’s absence. Confirming his return for NZ vs BAN, Kane Williamson in the pre-match press conference said that,

“Yeah (on if he will play or not). As for my recovery, it has been quite a journey but largely a good one that has had some really good progress and you know I have said a number of times, really excited to be named in the World Cup squad, be sitting here now and really excited at the prospect of tomorrow, which is another big challenge for us”

Talking off Tim Southee’s return, Kane Williamson further added,

“Well, Tim’s progressing well, but would not be playing tomorrow’s game. A new venue, new opposition, as we know, which always happens in world events. And we are looking forward to the challenge”
