New Zealand cricket team’s head coach, Gary Stead, speaks about Kane Williamson’s much-awaited return to the game. Kane Williamson is yet to mark his play for his nation in the World Cup 2023.

GARY STEAD TALKS ABOUT WILLIAMSON’S RETURN

The New Zealand cricket team’s first two matches of the World Cup were against England and Netherlands. However, the skipper, Kane Williamson, has left the fans in suspicion of his return to the game. The experienced skipper of New Zealand, Kane Williamson, has been absent from two consecutive matches of the World Cup 2023. Kane Williamson has been recovering from the knee injury he sustained during the Ipl 2023.

Before the World Cup, his inclusion in the World Cup squad was questionable. Later, the cricketer was included in the team. However, his fans are yet to see him play in the contest. New Zealand’s head coach, Gary Stead, spoke about Williamson’s return to the game. Gary Stead was quoted by stuff.co.nz saying,

“At this stage, all things are looking good for Kane’s return in this game, but we still say that with an air of caution. He’s been progressing very very well. it’s not about his injury so much, it’s his ability to run between the wickets and field and to consistently do that over a 50-over game” 

In addition, New Zealand’s pacer Tim Southee will also potentially make a comeback. Tim Southee missed the first two games while recovering from a dislocated thumb. His return to the game will strengthen the kiwi’s pace attack.

KIWI’S AT THE TOP

The New Zealand cricket team is at the top of the table, winning two consecutive games. While Kiwi’s first match was against defending champions England, the second was against Netherlands. Firstly, the kiwi’s defeated England by nine wickets. In the second game, they won the match against Netherlands by 99 runs.
