Ishan Kishan says his mother wants him to win the World Cup at any cost. The 25-year-old cricketer also has a double century to his name in the ODIs.

ISHAN KISHAN SHARES HIS MOTHER’S WISH

India is among the most favorite nations of this World Cup 2023, being the hosts. In addition, the Indian cricket team is at the top of all ICC men’s team rankings, which is one of the reasons to expect India to triumph.

Moreover, the Indian cricket team would not like to remember the 2019 World Cup semi-final defeat and move on. Amidst all this, the Indian team’s youngster Ishan Kishan shared a message from his mother before the World Cup 2023. Ishan was quoted as saying by OneCricket that,

“My mother has told me that I’ve got to win the World Cup for India at any cost, so there’s some extra pressure”

Moreover, Ishan Kishan will fill in for Shubman Gill as the opening batsman alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. Shubman Gill, who is currently recovering from dengue, is likely to be absent from a few games of the contest. Ishan has scored a total of 886 runs in his ODI career.

In 25 ODIs, he has smashed one century and seven half-centuries. His highest score in the ODI was 210 runs against Bangladesh on December 10, 2022, at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. In recent times, Ishan Kishan played a commendable knock against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 group stage match. Ishan scored 82 off 81 balls against Pakistan. When the Indian top order collapsed to Pakistan’s pace attack, Kishan’s innings accelerated the scoreboard gradually.
