DAVID BECKHAM IN IND VS NZ

Former football star David Beckham claimed to have felt shivers when he arrived at Wankhede Stadium. Beckham arrived in India to witness the first semifinal between India and New Zealand. He said that the fact that he was alongside Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar may have contributed to the experience’s extra special feeling for him. Speaking on BCCI TV, David Beckham said,

“I think it’s nice to step into a stadium and get goosebumps, and I felt that as soon as I walked into this stadium. There’s something about it, maybe it was because I was walking with Sachin, and maybe that made it feel even more special. But you feel the energy within the stadium even when there weren’t that many people at the start”

If forced to choose between the atmosphere of cricket and football, David Beckham said, “You know what? I would always say football fans, but being here today, I am not so sure. The atmosphere is incredible. The fans are creating an electric atmosphere and they are very loud, so I am not so sure.”

The IND vs NZ first semifinal was a revengeful event for Indian cricket fans. Last time when India faced New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semifinal, India lost by an inch. The loss pinched the Indian fans for a very long time. However, firstly, India defeated New Zealand in the league match to break the 20-year jinx and then in the semifinal. India advanced to the World Cup finals and will now encounter Australia. In 2003, India faced Australia in the ODI World Cup finals, where Australia clinched the title.
