Ben Stokes spills beans about his retirement from ODI cricket after the World Cup 2023. Stokes was part of the England cricket squad for World Cup 2023.

BEN STOKES ODI FUTURE

English star all-rounder Ben Stokes talked about his prospects of playing ODI cricket on November 11. On November 11’s eve, England played their last match in the ODI World Cup against Pakistan at Eden Gardens. Stokes unexpectedly returned to the CWC23 squad after announcing his retirement from the ODIs. Before England’s last game in the World Cup 2023, he expressed uncertainty about his future in the format. Moreover, Stokes also emphasized the value of real-world experiences over intense training in the gym. Ben stokes was quoted by Belfast Telegraph when asked about his ODI future that,

“I’ve no idea. I’m sure there will be a conversation but I don’t know when that will be. I have used the time between games here to give myself a better opportunity after the knee surgery

Ben Stokes further added,

All the work in the gym doesn’t compare to what you go through out there. I’m looking forward to getting it sorted and not having to worry like I have these past 18 months. From a physical point of view I’m better off than when I first got out here, but physical fitness and cricket fitness are two different things”

The 32-year-old kept his opinions close to vest when it came to his future in the ODIs. His goal in playing the format again was to support England in their attempt to win the 50-over World Cup. Sadly, England has only won three out of nine matches this season in India. This season has been disappointing for the England cricket team. Moreover, Ben Stokes’s chronic knee troubles kept him out of the first fixtures.
