WPL 2024 venues will most likely be in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Five teams will compete in the second season of the Women’s Premier League, just like the first one.
WPL 2024 VENUES
In February 2024, Bengaluru and Mumbai are most likely to be the venues hosting the WPL 2024. Like the first edition, the WPL 2024 will include five teams to contend in the contest. The five teams are Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz. In the tournament, one team will play twice against each team in a round-robin style. The top three teams will further move on to the knockout stage. The topmost team in the points table will directly qualify for the finals, while the other two teams will compete in the eliminator.
According to a report in Women’s CricZone, the competition would take place in a caravan style. Each side will complete its set of matches in one location before moving on to the next. However, the fixtures have not yet been finalized. It’s important to note that prior reports said the WPL will follow the IPL home-and-away schedule the following season.
The five WPL teams released 29 players and kept 60 from the list of players for the 2024 season, as released by BCCI on October 19. According to the talks, the franchise will have the opportunity to add players to their team through an auction in December 2023.
The WPL 2023 season was entirely hosted in Mumbai at DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium. The final venue for the WPL 2024 was Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The finale was between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. MI won the title of the first season by seven wickets. Nat Sciver-Brunt was the Player of the Match. Moreover, Hayley Matthews from Mumbai Indians squad was the Player of the Tournament.
