Waqar Younis comments on Pakistan’s pacer Shaheen Afridi’s current form

Former Pakistan’s notable cricketer, Waqar Younis, comments on Pakistan’s current ace pacer Shaheen Afridi’s form. Shaheen Afridi till now has not had the best of World Cup 2023.

The former skipper turned commentator Waqar Younis comments on Shaheen Afridi’s performance, contrasting his image. The ace pacer of Pakistan has taken four wickets in the three matches his nation has played until now in the World Cup 2023. Moreover, he has been quite expensive.

Reacting to Shaheen Afridi’s performance, former cricket and legend Younis believes the fast-bowler is the missing link in his bowling is discipline. In addition, Waqar also thinks that Shaheen is trying too much to dismiss the opponents. Furthermore, Waqar Younis feels that Shaheen is exposing himself by doing the same thing repeatedly, like his yorker delivery. Waqar Younis was quoted by The Daily Star saying,

“I don’t know if there is a problem with his fitness. The missing link in his bowling is discipline, and he is over trying to get wickets. When you do the same thing again and again like Shaheen is bowling to get his yorker going, then batsmen know that, and they are ready for it”

Furthermore, Younis made a reference to Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, saying he is putting pressure on the opponents. Jasprit Bumrah grabbed two wickets against Pakistan, giving just 19 runs in 7 overs. Talking about Jasprit Bumrah, Waqar Younis further added,

“Bumrah is creating pressure and his line is top of the off stump. He bowled so well against Pakistan and created pressure to get wickets”

Talking off Naseem Shah’s absence, Waqar Younis concluded,

“Naseem is a good bowler and doesn’t give many runs away.  When Naseem creates pressure, batsmen take chances with other bowlers, and they get wickets. I don’t think it’s because of missing just one bowler, but it’s because they are not keeping it simple”
