Varanasi to be rewarded with a new International Cricket stadium

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a Lord Shiva-themed cricket stadium in Varanasi on Saturday, September 23. Stadium estimated cost is around Rs. 330 crore.

It will have a seating capacity of nearly 30,000 people. It will feature unique design elements such as crescent-shaped roof covers, floodlights shaped like a trident. Also the structures resembling bel leaves and a damru. 

The design of the stadium aims to capture the essence of Kashi, with the spectators’ gallery resembling the steps of the ghats of Varanasi.

In addition to laying the foundation stone, PM Modi also addressed a rally of women supporters in Varanasi and spoke about the women’s reservation bill passed by Parliament. This is going to be Uttar Pradesh’s third international cricket stadium after Kanpur and Lucknow.

However, the structure is expected to be completed by Dec 2025 in Varanasi . This will be the third largest cricket stadium in the state of Uttar Pradesh, after Lucknow and Kanpur. Great anticipation among the fans for the newly constructed cricket stadium. Although, the images of the stadium has already gone viral in the internet. It will be a treat for the fans and devotee of Lord Shiva to see their an international cricket match in the stadium of Varanasi.
