Even though the 2023 World Cup is over, millions of Indian fans are still grieving over their country’s defeat. But the world is cruel, and three days later. Team India is playing a five-match Twenty20 International series against the same opponents. Fans of Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal was unhappy to learn that. Both players has left out of the Indian squad.

Since then, there has been much discussion about the two players’ non-selection. As India has chosen a youthful squad with a large number of inexperienced players, led by Suryakumar.

Reasons for Sanju Samson omission

When he gets going, Sanju Samson is unquestionably a match-winner, but he has struggled with consistency for a while. He fixed it in the ODI format, but he hasn’t performed up to par in the T20Is. His T20I average is a mere 19.68 across 24 games, and aside from a brilliant 40 in his most recent T20I, samson has not been able to accumulate consistent scores lately.

samson failed to impress in the recently finished Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy either. Maneging just 138 runs in six innings . While players like Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag hammered 510 and 485 runs, respectively. Although they are not in the squad, every other player chosen for the tournament score more runs than Sanju Samson. Therefore, if we only consider Sanju Samson’s total run total, his exclusion in recent games was to be expected.

Plenty of top-order batters leaving no room for Sanju

The 15-member team named for the first three Twenty20 Internationals features a number of top-order hitters, chosen by Indian selectors. Shreyas Iyer, a top-order batsman once more, will join the team for the final two Twenty20 Internationals, which may have also contributed to Sanju Samson s exclusion.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team’s vice-captain, is one of the three openers for the team to start. Yashasvi Jaiswal may have to bat at number three because Ishan Kishan, who has also been a consistent member of the squad, is likely to start. While players like Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh, and Shivam Dube have been chosen for their specialist middle order roles. Samson could not have much of an impact as the number five and number six batter in the West Indies series. If he is left out, there is still players like Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav.
