India’s middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer was quite on fire yesterday against Australia in the 2nd ODI at Indore.

Along with Shubman Gill, he stitched a 200-run partnership and scored 105 from just 90 balls.

Moreover, he also showcased a very flexible and adaptive attitude in the game and also his unwavering commitment to the team.

Additionally, his innings helped India win the game by 99 runs albeit the DRS system.

Losing the toss, Steve Smith asked India to bat and post a total for Australia on the board.

With centuries from Gill and Iyer, along with half-centuries from Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul, India posted a mammoth 399/5.

Australia got the daunting task of chasing down 400 runs that was cut short to 317 in 33 overs.

In the post-match interview, Iyer stated that he is ready to bat at any position as per the situation.

Management has told me that I would be batting at this particular number. I am flexible at whatever number I get to bat, whatever the team requires at that point of time. If I have to go lower down the order or up the order, I’m fine with it.

Iyer is not complaining about the competition within the team

Meanwhile, Iyer is already included in the 15-member squad of India’s ODI World Cup and will be representing the country at the highest level.

Also, he is being touted as the batter who can give strength to India’s batting order in the marquee event.

Moreover, Iyer is pretty confident that he will be able to surpass the challenge, even though there are doubts about his fitness.

There is competition and that’s the best part of being in the team. When you represent India, you know there will be challenges. As a professional, I can’t complain about that. And all I can say is that I would embrace the opportunity that the future presents and see to it that I leave no stone unturned.
