Shane Watson compares Rohit’s India to Ponting’s Australia

Rohit Sharma

Shane Watson compared India’s mighty juggernaut at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with the invincible Australian side. Which enjoyed a winning run at the 2003 and 2007 editions of the marquee tournament.

As Men in Blue peak collectively in what has been an excellent seven-match winning streak. The former Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson said he is reminded of Ricky Ponting and company in their absolute pomp.

India till now has conquered every challenge in the Cricket World Cup 2023. They have registered victory against every opponent they have faced. However, India’s real test will be at the knock-out stages of the tournament.

Shane Watson feels India ‘Exude Similar Aura’ to Australia

India becomes the first team to officially cement their place in the semi-finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson says,

They exude a similar aura, this team has absolutely no weakness, as was the case with the invincible Australian teams of the 2003 and 2007 World Cups. Just like that Aussie side, this team has quality world-class match-winners all around the team.

Once I saw the balance of the Indian team and the form of the players after two games, this thought occurred on me. They have just been so incredibly dominant and have a great chance of going through the tournament undefeated. A team has to be at their brilliant best to challenge this Indian side,”

After missing out on triumph at successive ICC events in recent history, Team India look intent to rewrite the history books and bag their third World Cup title. Rohit’s men next take on strong South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday (November 5) with the intention to be at the top of the points table.
