New York to host India-Pakistan game in T20 World Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to announce New York as one of the three venues in USA to host T20 World Cup matches. Apart, from New York, Dallas and Florida are the other two venues to host World Cup games. The 2024 T20 World Cup is set to be co-hosted by the United States and the West-Indies.

The ICC all set to announced a 34,000-seater temporary building located 30 miles east of New York City. A new modular stadium having a capacity of 34,000 seats will be constructed in Eisenhower Park, New York. According to various reports, the much-anticipated India-Pakistan can be hosted by New York city.

However, the other two existing venues in Grand Prairie, Dallas, and Broward Country, Florida will undergo expansions.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said,

The USA is a strategically important market. These venues give us an excellent opportunity to make a statement in the world’s biggest sport market

We explored a number of potential venue options in the country. However we feel hugely encouraged by the enthusiasm the event generated among prospective hosts…

The ICC has been clamouring for cricket to gain traction in the United States. Meanwhile, the country has a two-pronged appeal in that it is the world’s largest media market as well as the world’s fastest-growing cricket market.

The Eisenhower Park agreement is likely to quench many of the ICC’s concerns about venues in the US. The ICC has granted the United States around 20 games. These 20 games have to played between these 3 venues. However, Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina, in line to host some games of the mega-event. Although, it will be treat for cricket fans in the United States to witness World Cup games there.
